Louise was born and brought up in the north east of England and at the age of five declared that she wanted to be an opera singer. She moved to Lancashire to study at Lancaster University and on graduating became a florist, entertaining her colleagues and the customers in the flower shop by singing all the time! Following a series of successful concerts she realised that music was still her heart's passion and so enrolled as a postgraduate at Birmingham Conservatoire where she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Singing and Performance under the skilful vocal tuition of Christine Cairns. She still studies with Christine and has also been fortunate to be coached in opera by Jane Robinson, and in song by Helen Yorke.
At the Conservatoire Louise competed in the finals for several prizes and was awarded a bursary by the EMI foundation. Whilst at the college she took part in a number of staged productions and was awarded operatic roles which include Nutrice (L'incoronatione di Popea), Cidippe (Psyche) and Marcellina (Marriage of Figaro) and the dancing role of Margherita (West Side Story). She took part in the college's concert series singing pieces from her favourite romantic song repertoire by composers including Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Strauss. She also enjoyed performing with a string and piano trio and had fun singing with the college Big Band.
Louise is also a talented actress. She undertook theatre training at Birmingham School of Acting and has with a wealth of experience in straight theatre, a very useful skill for the operatic stage.
Louise has recently performed with opera companies which include Birmingham Opera (La Traviata, Idomeneo), Buxton Festival Opera (Savitri, Riders to the Sea) and City of Manchester Opera (Cavalleria Rusticana). She has worked with acclaimed conductors such as William Lacey and Oliver Gooch and has sung at venues throughout Britain including The NIA, Buxton Opera House, and The Adrian Boult Hall.
